In a few days, I leave the U.S. for an extended stay in France. The last time I did this, I was 20 years old and had never been on an airplane, much less out of the country. I have traveled the world in the intervening 45 years, but the profound impact of this first trip abroad continues to shape my life after all these years. Now, for the first time in my adult life, I am able to take the time to go back to this magical place, to explore it at my leisure, and tend to the unfinished business of developing my language skills. Although proficient in French, I would never claim to be totally fluent, so it's back to the classroom for a few weeks, followed bu a whole lot of "lab work" in the City of Light. Along the way, I will share my observations, photos, and experiences with those of you who may be interested in coming along for the ride. We'll be headed into "terra incognita"....always the most exciting place on earth for those who love to explore.
